Texas Instruments was founded in 1951. It is produced by the Geophysical Service Incorporated (GSI). The company originally produced equipment related to the earthquake industry and defense electronics. TI began to study transistors in the early 1950s and also manufactured the world's first commercial silicon transistor. In 1954, TI developed and manufactured the first transistor radio, and in 1958, Jack Kilby, who works in the new research laboratory in TI, invented the integrated circuit. In 1961, TI built the first integrated circuit computer for the U.S. Air Force. In the late 1950s, TI began to study infrared technology, and then TI stepped into radar systems, navigation and control systems for the manufacture of missiles and bombs. The world's first portable calculator was invented by TI in 1967.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the company's business focused on household electronic products, such as digital clocks, electronic watches, portable calculators, home computers and various sensors. In 1997, the company sold its defense business to Raytheon. In 2007, Texas Instruments was regarded as one of the largest ethical enterprises in the world. After the acquisition of National Semiconductor in 2011, TI has a portfolio of about 45,000 analog circuit products and customer design tools [7], making TI the world's largest manufacturer of analog circuit components. In 2011, TI ranked 175th in the Fortune 500. TI's business has two main branches: semiconductor (SC) and education technology (ET), of which the semiconductor business generates about 96% of the company's revenue.
